Why Do I Feel That I Don’t Belong Here???

Have you ever looked around at the world and thought,

“What the hell am I doing HERE?”,

… and I don’t mean here in your house, or your town, or even your country.

I mean… HERE… on this planet…!

Maybe you’ve felt it your entire life, as if Earth isn’t your true home, which is true for all of us, because home is with Creator/Source, but even as a child, did something seem different?

Other people appeared to understand how everything was supposed to work:

  • Go to school.
  • Get a job.
  • Make money.
  • Buy stuff.
  • Pay bills.
  • Watch TV.
  • Get old.
  • Die.

And somewhere inside you was a little voice asking,

“Seriously? THIS is why we’re here…?”

How many times have you caught yourself saying,

“Why does everything seem to be upside down and backwards?” or, “I didn’t sign up for THIS…!”?

Maybe you’ve spent years trying to fit into a world that never really felt like it fit YOU?

If so, you’re definitely not the only one…!

I’ve Never Really Felt Like I Fit In

Some people can remember exactly when they began questioning everything.

For me, it was the minute I stepped into the Methodist church for Sunday school.

Immediately, I got the heebie-jeebies and felt,

“Something is NOT right about this.”

My Sunday school teacher had to call my parents because I was asking too many questions and disrupting her class.

In my mind, even as a child, I knew something was off, but couldn’t put my finger on it.

Years later, I listened to an mp3 that triggers your past life in a dream, and it explained EVERYTHING:

Here is my past life that I got from this mp3:

I was a Mayan elder who was being forced into Christianity after the Spanish Inquisition.

There was a Christian celebration going on in my homeland, which looked similar to an area around Belize… very tropical with beautiful blue waters.

There were Mayan glyphs all around that were broken and tattered.

I wanted the Christians to include these glyphs in their celebration but they were only focused on transforming the remainder of my people to Christianity.

They threatened to kill me if I didn’t convert to Christianity.

The only reason I didn’t fight the Christians was because I knew the children needed to preserve our traditions without the Christians knowing about it, so I lied about agreeing to convert.

Without the Christians knowing, I planned on teaching the children of our clan our traditions and values, not the Christian ones.

All of the sudden, it became clear to me and here’s the irony:

I’m 25% Spanish…!

In other words, I invaded myself on a higher level.

You might now have experienced a particular moment like this.

Some people “just know” something isn’t quite right about humanity’s origins, religion, government, etc… They all seem to divide us instead of bringing us together.

They’ve just always known something felt different.

As a kid, maybe you preferred being alone?

Maybe adults couldn’t understand why you asked so many questions?

Maybe you questioned religion when everyone around you simply accepted it?

Maybe you couldn’t understand why people cared so much about money, status, possessions, popularity, or impressing people they didn’t even like?

Maybe you looked up at the stars and felt something you couldn’t explain?

Not curiosity, but something deeper… almost like a feeling of being homesick, but how can you be homesick for somewhere you’ve never been?

Why Does This World Feel So Strange To Me?

Take a good look at how our world works.

We spend much of childhood preparing ourselves to work. Then we spend most of our adult lives working so we can afford to live. We’re surrounded by billions of people, yet millions feel completely alone.

We have technology connecting us to practically everyone on Earth, yet genuine human connection can sometimes feel harder to find than ever.

We’re told success means accumulating more.

  • More money.
  • More possessions.
  • More status.
  • More followers.
  • More stuff.

But eventually, some of us start asking:

  • Is THAT really success?
  • What if success means discovering why you’re here?
  • What if it means helping somebody?
  • Creating something?
  • Loving somebody?
  • Learning?
  • Experiencing?
  • Growing?
  • Remembering?
  • What if we’ve been measuring the wrong things?

Once you start asking those questions, going back to the old way of looking at life becomes incredibly difficult.

Why Does Everyone Else Seem Okay With This?

This always puzzled me.

You look around and wonder why everyone else isn’t asking the same questions.

Doesn’t anybody else SEE this?

Of course they do.

Many people simply deal with it differently…

Some are perfectly happy living conventional lives, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Others feel exactly what you’re feeling but never talk about it.

Some haven’t reached that point in their journey yet, and some may never… and that’s okay, too.

Your journey doesn’t require everyone else to understand it, but when YOU begin changing, the distance between you and people who aren’t asking those questions can become increasingly noticeable.

Suddenly,

  • Conversations you once enjoyed don’t interest you
  • Things you once wanted don’t seem important
  • People you once related to seem different, except maybe THEY didn’t change… maybe YOU did.

You might feel like you’re the same person you were 5 months or even 5 years ago, but everyday, we’re changing.

Maybe You’re Not Supposed To Fit In

Think about that for a second. We spend so much of our lives trying to fit in. What if fitting in was never the goal?

I’ve always said that most people will pretend to be what society expects them to be and will go to their graves never knowing who they truly were.

Why are most people afraid to be themselves?

Why does conformity place a higher value over authenticity?

Some of the people who changed humanity the most were the ones who looked at what everyone else accepted and said:

  • “Why?”
  • Why do we do it this way?
  • Why can’t we do something different?
  • Why does everyone believe this?
  • What if they’re wrong?
  • What if there’s another possibility?

Being different can feel incredibly uncomfortable when you’re surrounded by people trying to be the same, but perhaps the part of you that doesn’t fit is precisely the part you’re supposed to explore.

There’s nothing wrong with being part of the flock as long as that flock accepts you for being your true self.

Why Do I Feel Like Earth Isn’t My Home?

Are you feeling this?

I’ve heard variations of this from people in the spiritual community for YEARS, mainly through Dolores Cannon‘s work with “Volunteer Souls” who feel that Earth is not their true home.

At any given point, they may say to themselves, “I want to go home” while they’re already sitting in their home when they say it. And they’re not talking about Florida, California, England, Australia, or wherever they grew up.

They can’t necessarily tell you where “home” IS. They simply feel like this isn’t it…

For some, looking at the stars produces an emotional reaction they can’t explain.

How many times have you gazed at Orion’s Belt, and then followed its path to see thePleiades?

Certain star systems fascinate them.

Certain ancient civilizations feel strangely familiar. They may have dreams about places they’ve never visited. Some even describe an inexplicable feeling that they volunteered to come here

So what does any of that mean?

There are several possibilities…

Am I An Old Soul?

Maybe you’ve always felt older than your age.

Even as a child, you preferred talking to adults.

You were unusually introspective.

You couldn’t understand the behavior of other kids.

As you got older, you became less interested in superficial things and increasingly interested in life’s bigger questions.

  • Why are we here?
  • What happens after we die?
  • Have we lived before?
  • What is consciousness?
  • Is there more to reality than what we can see?

Within spiritual traditions, someone like this might be described as an Old Soul, a consciousness that has experienced many incarnations and carries some degree of wisdom or familiarity from those experiences.

Can we prove that…?

No, but for some people, the concept immediately feels familiar.

Am I A Starseed?

Then there’s the starseed possibility.

The basic idea is that some souls may have origins or previous incarnations connected to civilizations beyond Earth.

…or somewhere else entirely…

For someone who’s spent their entire life thinking,

“I don’t feel like I’m FROM here”,

…discovering the starseed concept can produce one hell of an A-HA moment…

Suddenly their fascination with the stars, unusual dreams, feelings of not belonging, and sense of having a purpose seem connected.

Does feeling different automatically mean you’re a starseed?

Of course not, that’s where discernment comes in.

A label should help you explore yourself, it shouldn’t tell you who you are.

Am I a Lightworker, Earth Angel, or Something Else?

Other people resonate more strongly with concepts such as:

  • Lightworker.
  • Earth Angel.
  • Incarnated Angel.
  • Indigo.
  • Empath.
  • Galactic Warrior.
  • Volunteer soul.

The terminology isn’t nearly as important to me as the question underneath all of it:

Why do so many people feel like they came here to DO something?

Maybe you’ve felt that way yourself?

You don’t know exactly what the mission is and nobody handed you instructions when you arrived, yet there’s this persistent feeling of:

  • I’m supposed to be doing something here.
  • Helping.
  • Teaching.
  • Creating.
  • Healing.
  • Awakening.
  • Protecting.
  • Building.
  • Connecting people.
  • Leaving something behind.

Sometimes that feeling can follow someone for decades before they understand what it means.

Did I Actually CHOOSE To Come Here?

This is an even bigger question.

What if you weren’t randomly dropped into this life? What if, on some level, you chose it?

  • Your family.
  • Your challenges.
  • Your relationships.
  • Your talents.
  • Maybe even some of your most difficult experiences.

Perhaps this helps to explain my past life regression as a Mayan elder and my opposition to organized religion.

Past-life regression researchers and many spiritual traditions have explored the idea that,

consciousness may participate in choosing circumstances before incarnation…

If that’s true, the question changes dramatically.

Instead of,

“Why am I stuck here?” it becomes, “Why did I COME here?”

Those are two completely different ways of looking at the same life, and I think the second question is infinitely more interesting.

What If There’s Also A Psychological Explanation?

There should be room for this possibility, too.

Our educational system, religion and government rely on subservience, control and conformity. This has been drilled into our heads from the day we’re born. You’re ostracized if you don’t conform or fit in.

A nurse friend of mine had the ability to astral travel any time she desired.

She once astral traveled to her neighbors house and saw them watching television while eating dinner. She later told them about it, what they were eating, and what they were watching. Her neighbors were petrified, as if she was a demon.

When she told her friends about this, assuming that they all had this ability, she was ridiculed.

So, here we have a child with an amazing ability who, in an ideal society, would be TEACHING her friends this ability instead of being ridiculed for it.

It’s all upside down and backwards.

Feeling like you don’t belong isn’t exclusively a spiritual experience.

Some of us are naturally more introverted (I’m an INFPIntrovert-Intuitive-Feeling-Perceiving).

Some are highly independent thinkers.

Some have values dramatically different from the culture around them.

Creative people often feel different.

Highly introspective people can feel different.

People who question social conventions can feel different, and once you’ve recognized contradictions in the world around you, it’s difficult to pretend you haven’t.

None of that requires extraterrestrial incarnations or past lives, but here’s what I find interesting.

A psychological explanation doesn’t necessarily cancel out a spiritual one.

Maybe there are several layers to the same experience.

You get to decide what resonates with YOU…

Maybe You Don’t Miss A PLACE

Here’s another possibility I’ve thought about.

When someone says, “I want to go home,” maybe they’re not remembering a planet…?

Maybe they’re remembering a,

  • Feeling.
  • Connection.
  • Unity.
  • Love.
  • Peace.
  • Understanding.
  • A state of consciousness where separation doesn’t feel as strong as it does here.

Maybe what we call homesickness isn’t always about geography?

Maybe it’s about remembering what it feels like to be completely connected, and if that’s true, then perhaps the goal isn’t necessarily to leave Earth and go home.

Maybe part of our reason for being here is to bring a little more of THAT here.

The People Who Don’t Belong May Eventually Find Each Other

This is one of the beautiful ironies of awakening.

You spend years thinking,

“Nobody thinks like me.”

Then,

you find ONE person and you practically talk for six hours straight.

Then another.

And another…

Eventually you realize something, you weren’t alone… you were scattered.

Maybe that’s why finding people who genuinely understand you feels so powerful?

You don’t have to explain every weird thought.

You don’t have to apologize for questioning things.

You don’t have to pretend you’re interested in things that mean absolutely nothing to you.

You can simply be yourself.

And sometimes another person says something you’ve secretly thought your entire life.

That’s when you think,

“FINALLY. Someone else gets it.”

What If ‘Not Belonging’ Is Part Of Your Journey?

Maybe you weren’t supposed to comfortably fit into everything around you, because if you had…

  • Would you have questioned it?
  • Would you have searched?
  • Would you have awakened?
  • Would you have gone down the rabbit hole?
  • Would you have discovered who you really are?

Sometimes discomfort forces movement.

Sometimes loneliness forces us inward.

Sometimes losing one identity creates room to discover another and sometimes, feeling like we don’t belong makes us search until we finally discover where we DO.

Start Remembering The Things That Made You Different

Think about how your life has progressed:

  • When did you first realize you saw things differently?
  • What fascinated you as a child?
  • What did you instinctively question?
  • What dreams stayed with you?
  • What strange experiences did you have?
  • What subjects have repeatedly pulled you back?
  • What synchronicities followed you?
  • What people changed your direction?
  • What have you always somehow known, even when you couldn’t explain how you knew it?

Don’t worry about finding a label immediately. Look for the patterns, because your answer may not be contained in one experience… it may be scattered throughout your entire life.

That’s one of the reasons I created the In5D Infinite App.

Infinite gives you a place to remember the pieces of your spiritual journey instead of allowing them to disappear with time.

  • Your dreams.
  • Synchronicities.
  • Tarot.
  • Numerology.
  • Angel numbers.
  • Astrology.

The things you experience today and eventually, the patterns that begin appearing between them, because perhaps the question isn’t simply,

“Why don’t I belong here?”,

… maybe the deeper question is,

“Why AM I here?”,

…and perhaps you’ve been collecting pieces of that answer your entire life but haven’t connected them yet…
